We are going to mess up and drop the ball at times.
Everyone makes mistakes.
By making mistakes we are discovering what doesn’t work, which might be costly, it’s even more costly if we don’t adjust our approach for next time.
One thing you can do and should always do following mistakes.
Evaluate.
This could be a full root cause analysis or simply asking for feedback from your customer or team.
Try these steps
What is the problem/what occurred?
Collect data, when did it happen? How often does it happen? What evidence is there?
What sequence of events leads to this problem? What environment or variables caused this problem to occur?
What is the real reason this problem is occurring?
What steps can we take to prevent the issue from reoccurring? Who is owning this?
The adjustments we make following the outcome of our findings will make us, our product or service better, which is a significant win for the customer and our people.
