Daily Leader Tip: Marginal Gains 🚴

How do you make huge progress? πŸ“ˆ

Focus on improving by 1% every single day.

Quick story.

Dave Brailsford was hired in 2003 as Performance Director of the British Cycling team. It was in need of a reboot having fallen short for a number of years.

Just five years after taking over, the British Cycling team dominated the road and track cycling events at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where they won an astounding 60 per cent of the gold medals available.

Four years later, when the Olympic Games came to London, the Brits raised the bar as they set nine Olympic records and seven world records.

Dave’s philosophy? Marginal gains.

He had a relentless pursuit of finding the tiny margins of improvement in everything he and his team did.

"The whole principle came from the idea that if you broke down everything you could think of that goes into riding a bike, and then improved it by 1%, you will get a significant increase when you put them all together.”

You may think that 1% is small, but 1%+1%+1% = big improvement.

All the small 1% improvements over time accumulated have a profound impact.

What could you improve by 1%?
