80/20 rule is a powerful rule to live by.

It will make you seriously effective if you do it right.

It helps you to focus on the high value and important tasks.

Identifying the critical few can have a huge impact on our results.

At the hear it’s about what are the important minority of inputs which can produce the majority of the output.

i.e. 20% of customers amount to 80% of revenue or orders.

Putting large amounts of effort into tasks and/or projects which don’t make a huge measurable difference are opportunity costs.

There are always going to be opportunities for improvement, but what ones are important and what ones should we focus the majority of our time on?
