Daily Leader Tip: Consistency over Intensity

Consistency is what helps you achieve that goal.

Consistently turning up and learning.

Consistently trying hard things.

Consistently chipping away at that problem.

Consistently contributing to your relationships.

Focus on Consistency, not Intensity.

See below for how I achieved a goal which I couldn’t break for over 2 years.

Goal: Sub 19 minute 5k run

I failed miserably at trying to achieve this goal for over 2 years.

I just couldn't break my previous PB of 19:08.A few Parkrun times:19:3420:3319:2919:1419:2319:2920:0619:2420:5919:40I was trying to accomplish this goal and crack the code. Some weeks I would do 3x 5k runs and hill sprints. On other weeks I would do nothing. Then I decided to focus on just turning up consistently.

Put the goal aside for a moment.3x runs every week for several months at the beginning of last year. Then on 30th April, I ran 18:07.Followed by 17:55 on 16th July.Consistency was my path to success.Try being consistent with something for 3 months and see what happens.
